Responding when a baby dies

Since April 2008 new statutory procedures for responding to all child deaths have been in place. For more information on these procedures click here.

FSID is working at national and local levels to support all professionals working in this area to implement the new procedures. We have produced guidelines for professionals on responding when a baby dies. The overall aim is to ensure that a thorough investigation of the death takes place and that the needs of the bereaved family are met.

FSID’s team of Regional Development Officers are skilled in assisting this development and can offer training for professionals in supporting bereaved families.
