The Baby Check booklet can help you decide whether your baby needs to see a doctor.
It was developed from a four year project which analysed the signs and symptoms of illness in over 1,000 babies under six months of age. This helped find the combination which could be used to assess the severity of a baby's illness with the most accuracy. The accuracy and acceptibility of Baby Check has been tested in several field trials.
Follow the instructions in the booklet to make a check on your baby. The scores for each check can be noted on the scorecard provided near the end.
Before you use Baby Check for the first time on your own, it is a good idea to have worked through a complete check with your health visitor when your baby is well. This makes sure you understand how to use Baby Check properly.
