Controversies in cot death: bedsharing, dummy use and breastfeeding
There continues to be a great deal of controversy surrounding advice given to parents about bedsharing and dummy use, and also whether these practices have an impact on breastfeeding. Health visitors, midwives and others involved in the care of babies often receive conflicting information from different sources, and when passed on to parents this contributes to confusion and anxiety.
A comprehensive and up to date overview of national and international research in the field will be presented at FSID’s AGM on 9 March 2010 at 5pm by Professor George Haycock, FSID’s Scientific Advisor, at Institute of Child Health, London.
This will enable all with an interest in the issue to judge for themselves the research strength of the arguments being put forward by different sources. There will also be an opportunity to ask questions and discuss the issues.
There is no registration fee but to attend you must have a confirmed booking registered in advance. This annual series of FSID lectures is always oversubscribed and places are strictly limited, so early booking is advised. There will be a drinks reception (cash bar) starting at 6.30pm. Last date for booking: 5 March 2010. 1 CPD point
